Kenna Westerman - Fine Artist
Kenna Westerman is from Little Rock, Arkansas. A big influence in her early life was her grandparents from Fort Smith, Arkansas. She watched her grandfather take movies with a movie camera that you wind up by hand. Anyone remember that camera? Her grandmother took still photos and had slides made. Whenever she would visit, they would always take out the movie and slide projectors and show the lastest photos. Kenna acquired her first camera from sugar coupons and started taking pictures.
It has only been in the last fourteen years that Kenna started thinking serious about her photographs. That was when her husband, Rusty, replaced her cardboard box camera with a brand new digital camera. Of course that means one must have a computer. Thankfully, her son, Calvin (always be Cally to her) had majored in computers and patiently taught her how to use the computer with her camera.
Rusty and long time friends AB Word and Barrie Bryant, encouraged her to enter her photos in contests. She entered at the Arkansas State Fair and won. Since then she enjoys entering in different contests.
While she enjoys taking pictures of everything, architecture is becoming a favorite. Be sure to check out the gallery on architecture. Another way that she enjoys expressing her creativity, is by changing existing photos to make new photos. The Fruit, The Vine and Worm, and The Storm were made from using this technique. You will find these in the Digitally Enhanced Gallery.
Kenna's work has been in galleries in Little Rock and Greers Ferry, AR, Half Moon Bay, CA, and Sarasota, FL
Kenna is a member with the Arkansas Outdoor Photographers Club and The Arkansas Art Council.
